  • Civic behavior and distractions: use of the phone while driving, alcohol, fatigue. The videos present scenarios of danger where risky behavior must be identified.
  • First aid and health: basic gestures (recovery position, calling 15 or 112), risky behaviors related to substance use.
  • Sustainable development: environmental impact of transportation, alternatives to individual cars. Less frequent theme but regularly present.

The commented correction, available after each question in training mode, explains why an answer is incorrect. This feature remains the most useful educational lever of the platform, as it transforms a mistake into active learning.

Training mode vs. test mode: two distinct uses on e-ASSR

The platform offers two modes. Using them in the correct order changes the quality of preparation.

Thematic training without time limit

The training mode allows selecting one or more themes, watching the videos as many times as necessary, and receiving detailed feedback after each answer. The videos can be replayed without restriction, which helps to spot visual details (background signs, behavior of an off-screen pedestrian).

This mode is suitable for the first weeks of revision. Working in blocks of two to three themes per session, rather than mixing everything, helps to anchor the concepts before moving on to the timed test.

Test under real conditions with a timer

The test mode simulates the official exam: 20 randomly drawn questions with a limited response time. The correction appears only at the end. This format forces quick decision-making, just like on exam day in middle school.

Alternating the two modes over several sessions yields better results than cramming everything the night before. The random draw ensures that each test offers different combinations, limiting the effect of mechanical memorization of answers.

Access to the e-ASSR platform and taking the exam in middle school

Access to the training platform is free and does not require an account. Any student, parent, or teacher can start a revision session from a web browser.

However, the official exam is only taken in the school, under the supervision of a teacher or educational staff. The results are then communicated to the student and their family. The ASSR diploma is issued by the school and kept by the student, who must present it when applying for the AM or B license.

For candidates who are no longer in school (adults who have never obtained the certificate), an equivalent exam, the ASR (Road Safety Certificate), can be taken at GRETA or an accredited center. The e-ASSR platform also allows training for this exam via a dedicated mode.

The digital format of the national platform, managed by CNED, remains the only official free tool for preparing for road safety certificates. Third-party sites offering similar MCQs do not necessarily reproduce the same video sequences or the same level of difficulty as the actual exam.
